It’s hard to find anything negative to say about Macrium Technician license. However, selecting View Unsupported Devices in the Restore menu then allows you to add more drivers for another machine: Computers may have totally different hardware, and once created, the Technician USB might only initially contain drivers for hardware found on the PC where it was built.
One of the things I like best in Technician is its ability to add drivers as you go. The Technician edition also includes full support for deploying an image to new, but dissimilar hardware. Simply put, the Technician edition allows IT support to backup and image multiple machines with a single license. Because it also works as bootable rescue media, you can also use it to restore any image to any machine, online or offline. With a Technician USB, however, you can image any workstation or server simply from the desktop, by launching Macrium Reflect from your USB drive. Because normal Macrium workstation and server licenses are machine specific, without the Technician edition, you would need Reflect installed on each machine. After installing it, the first task is to create technician USB: Macrium Reflect Technician, both Standard and Enterprise editions, includes Macrium Reflect Server edition. The Standard costs €413, Enterprise €719 ($510 and $886, respectively, as per today’s exchange rates). It may be used on unlimited workstations and servers. In addition to the Technician Standard edition I tested, an Enterprise edition is also available. This software includes Portable Application Support, allowing you to create a USB stick with rescue environment that can image your target PCs both online and offline. Includes 1 perpetual Macrium Reflect Server License plus free upgrade protection and technical support during subscription period. The Standard Technician’s License enables a single technician imaging and recovery of up to 10 Servers and unlimited Workstations providing the software is not installed on more than one computer at a time.
To begin, here’s a quote from Macrium about this product: You simply plug in the USB device, and run a launcher that lets you choose the bit-architecture for the target machine. The technician version runs directly from a special USB stick that includes both 32 and 64 bit versions. I must say it’s an extremely practical tool to image and restore Windows workstations and servers with no need to install Reflect on each of them. I have been testing Macrium Technician now for the past month.
